My new favorite song

7 / 18 / 17

It happens from time to time to find a song that I play on repeat and get lost in my own world. All of us do that.

My favorite song  right now is Meet me in the woods by Lord Huron.

I felt the need to share it with you!

The Romanian wedding by Vlad Ilas

7 / 3 / 177 / 2 / 17
Vlad

I had the chance to meet Vlad n 2015, when we were in Hunedoara for the Vizita in Hunedoara.

He saw me wearing the Romanian blouses and he told me that he has one as well and that he takes pictures of models in this type of blouses.

Being friends with him on Facebook I got the chance to see these beautiful photos of newly weds wearing traditional Romanian clothes on their wedding day.

It’s easy to say that I feel in love with his work and that I want people outside Romania to see what Romanian culture is about.

Breath taking, right?

You can find him on his web page www.vladilas.ro and check more of his work.

Ia cu boboci

7 / 2 / 177 / 30 / 17

This year has been productive for me, in all plans. I am happy and the future projects that came up towards me will help me grow more as a person.

I started and finished this year many things, one of them being this traditional Romanian blouse from Botosani. I wore it on the 24th of June.

The pattern on the top of the sleeve is taken from Semne Cusute, and the rest is from a book with vintage embroidered patterns, by Erich Kolbenheyer, from Bucovina.

I just wanted to leave this part of my journey, here on the blog.

Happy July everyone!

The 5th year that I wear a Romanian blouse on the 24th of June

6 / 25 / 17

I have quite a reputation of wearing my embroidered blouses and taking pictures.

Well this year marks the 5th year of wearing it on the 24th of June.

Back in 2013 when Radu bought this blouse for me. No event yet in Constanta.
My first blouse. 2014 and the first event in Constanta for the Universal Day of the Romanian blouse.
2015 at the event.
2016 at the event. Same blouse as in 2015 but improved. I actually made it as a full dress this year.

What does the 24th of June represent? Well it is an European holiday known as the Summer Solstice and in eastern Europe, people celebrate the Fairies called Sanziene or Dragaice. It is a pagan celebration with European roots, which makes it very important, and since 2013 it is celebrated as the day of the Romanian blouse, internationally by the Romanians in the diaspora.

As I finished one of the blouses that I started this year, I wore this one today.

There was a huge celebration here in Denmark and the weather was friendly so I took a walk around the city.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my little post.

Ziua Universala a Iei, Constanta 2017, editia a IV-a

6 / 20 / 176 / 21 / 17

Radu ne-a facut poze si am initiat o miscare in orasul Constanta! Ziua Universala a Iei!

Iar daca sunteti in Constanta, va recomand cu toata inima sa mergeti pe Faleza Casinoului deoarece Lili are multe surprize in program!

I just found that there was a fashion walk with traditional Romanian costumes from the Museum Dimitrie Gusti.
I have seen this type of fashion walks happening in Ukraine and I was always wondering why don’t they do it in Romania as well.
I am in love with costumes they showed and I took the liberty of sharing them with you here and letting you know about this Fashion Philosophy event.
As you can see, in the pictures below, they used at this event authentic vintage costumes, mostly women’s costumes, for almost each area of the country.
Dobrogea is missing, as always.
They used almost every piece of the costume, at most of them they used the head piece but they missed the jewelry and shoes. I understand why they didn’t used the shoes but I am wondering why they did not used some of the jewelry. Maybe it had to do with safety and I am comparing this event with the events that are happening in Ukraine.
I am happy that this catwalk showed the vintage fashion of the Romanian people and I hope that they make a tradition.
These pictures are valuable for the people that love the traditional Romanian costume and want to see it outside of the Museum, on a human being.

They also had male costumes on the cat walk.

These vintage costumes still influence fashion designers today, and most of them don’t even give credit about it. I am glad that we now have good quality pictures with these costumes and that they will inspire people into discovering the vintage art craft of the Romanian culture.

I hope you like this post and that I made you curious about the traditional Romanian costumes.

Modele de scoarte dobrogene

2 / 28 / 175 / 23 / 17
