I know this video should have been uploaded last year, but I have started working at it multiple times and never got to finish it properly. I initiated this project along with my husband back in 2015 in an attempt to show to the Romanian public that the vintage blouses, that are part of our identity culture, are not unfashionable and that we can wear them with pride. The main group of target was the young generation that has barely any contact with the authentic traditional elements. I have to mention that the ideas that influenced me into discovering the beauty of he authentic are La Blouse Roumaine and Semne Cusute (Ioana Corduneanu). In this video you can get a glimpse of the photos that were taken in this project, we skipped filming the makeup process (done by Alina Spinu). In 2016 me and my husband worked along side with Alina Spinu who was as photographer, assistant, makeup artist and hair stylist. Not to mention her constant support. Diana Curca was the main photographer, Radu Niculescu was as assistant, makeup by Alina Spinu. Traditional Romanian blouse from Rucar, Fagaras borrowed from miss Brindusa Darmina. The Facebook page for this project is https://www.facebook.com/SanzieneinUr… and the web page is http://www.sanzieneinurban.com Not all the photo shootings had video of making of but the results of 2015 and 2016 have been published. As well you can find the team behind all the photos.
We worked hard to make some beautiful photos to promote the event from 2015. I finally got to finish this video and share our work with the world! I hope you like it and appreciate our effort.
It is supposed to be a scary day and it is, in some way. I somehow feel like being at the edge of a cliff and almost falling, but when I look back I realize I was in a very bad place when I was 19, even at 9 years old. So looking ahead is not as scary as it was when I was younger.
It is a mixture o relief and anxiety, a feeling that somehow I am a better version of myself than I was 10 years ago. I feel free to reinvent myself and learn new stuff.
Age it’s not just a number, it is a reminder that you have to improve yourself in some way.
Because it is my birthday I will share with you people some of the best pictures of me taken this year.
I am wearing a traditional Romanian costume from Cluj, Transilvania.
Photography by Radu Niculescu, hair and assistant Alina Spinu.
Am apucat sa filmez cateva momente din primele sedinte foto pentru Sanziene in Urban!
Mult succes Japomania! Te urmaresc cu drag!
Many of you don’t know much about Romanian culture, language or traditional clothing.
In the past years, many highly known designers got inspired from the European folkloric patterns, Romania being included.
Europe is such a small place if you look at the map of the World, but so many beautiful ethnic clothes are compacted from 50 countries, each country having many beautiful patterns. The East European embroidery has always been admired and that form of art has always been a life style for many of the people still living in the rural area.
Discovering the beautiful Romanian traditional you discover the beautiful old writing of the ancestors on their clothes and pottery. The continuity of the Cucuteni Culture can be easily seen on patterns on the Romanian blouse.
On this post I will try to show you a piece of art that belongs to Silvia Floarea Toth, a young woman that is considered an ambassador for Romania, an idol for the traditional clothing from her native area, Nasaud.
Silvia Floarea Toth is a photographer that started sharing her self portraits wearing her grandmother traditional blouse. This happened while Tom Ford was making a huge splash on the runway with inspired blouses from the Romanian Blouse.
Silvia is a huge success especially in the eyes of the Romanians that work or live outside Romania for years. She brought a nostalgic and magical image of the authentic Romanian traditional that is usually kept in the museums.
What makes her even more lovable is the fact that she has many traditional costumes and she made albums with the traditional pieces and now the world can see in high quality the work of the old generation, the beautiful generation that made everything with their own hands.
In my eyes she is the perfect vision of the Romanian Beauty.
